About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Network Engineer.
In this role, you will:
- Engineers and maintains the on-prem and cloud-based Load Balancing infrastructure for Platforms, Applications and API's.
- Deploy, manage, and support the enterprise Load Balancing solutions – F5/AVI/Akamai/Cloudflare.
- Demonstrated enterprise experience in change management process.
- Strong working knowledge of providing/understanding network security documentation.
- Experience at on-call support for network security related issues.
- Hands-on experience on Splunk and SIEM tools.
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers.
- Leads security risk assessments to ensure compliance with corporate security policies and adherence to best practices.
- Identify security vulnerabilities and issues, perform risk assessments, and evaluate remediation alternatives.
- Serves as a high level technical security resource on large-scale network and/or systems/applications issues.
- Serves as technical lead responsible for specific areas of computer security incident response activities to include cyber threat and development/implementation of vulnerability mitigation strategies.
- Responsible for staging/configuration of network security products and implementations by following strict change management guidelines.
- Mentor other security engineers at analysis or implementation work as needed.
- Leads in the research, analysis, design, testing and implementation of complex computer network security/protection technologies for company information and network systems/applications.
- Participates in the evaluation of vendor proposals, new and existing security designs, and emerging security technologies and systems.
- Utilize subject matter knowledge in industry leading security solutions and best practices to implement one or more components of information security such as availability, integrity, confidentiality, risk management, threat identification, modeling, monitoring, incident response, access management, and business continuity.
- Provide security consulting on large projects for internal clients to ensure conformity with corporate information, security policy, and standards.
- Lead or participate in implementing network security policies across routers and firewalls
- Manage production networks including Internet Protocol backbone, data centers and edge pops across the globe
- Ensure the continuous availability of all data network services
- Identify gaps, risks and issues and navigate organizational structure to resolve them
- Perform quarterly proactive network testing to ensure proper functioning and reliability of the network
- Investigate and remediate network capacity related issues
- Apply knowledge of security and regulatory policies to design and implement foolproof secured network solutions
- Provide resolution information and work with other teams to complete impact analysis
- Deliver comprehensive and maintenance plans for change management review and approval
- Mentor and train network operations team in the installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Partner cross-functionally with other Product Infrastructure teams in order to continuously improve and apply standards and policies relevant to operational excellence
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Network Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in the network and security products.
- Expert knowledge and hands-on experience on Load Balancing solutions – F5/AVI/Akamai/Cloudflare.
- 5+ years of Information Security Engineering experience.
- 2+ years of Intermediate to Advanced level experience with scripting/automation using tools such as: Bash, Ansible Playbook/Role Development, PowerShell, Python, etc.
- 2+ years advanced understanding of Network concepts like DNS, Firewall and Routing.
- Proven experience with change and incident management practices in medium to large enterprise environments.
- Experience with Agile Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
- Advanced understanding of TLS, Certificates, and MTLS.
Desired Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge and understanding of network fundamentals, such as routing, subnets
- Knowledge and understanding of network infrastructure systems (routing, switching, load balancing, or firewalls) and internet technologies
- Knowledge and understanding of system engineering with emphasis on load balancing or network infrastructure
- Knowledge and understanding of load balancing and application delivery
- Knowledge and understanding of principles and practices involved in designing, constructing, installing, maintaining, and operating Application Delivery Controllers (Load Balancing)
- Knowledge and understanding of technology production support: installation environments utilizing three tiered architecture including web servers, app servers and database servers
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) Internet security protocol experience
- Experience with performing code upgrades on LTM / GTM devices and/or VMWare AVI controllers
- Experience with performing base builds and configurations for F5 LTM/GTM/APM and VMware AVI controllers
- Experience working with LAN and WAN topologies, TCP/IP protocol, routers, switches, and firewalls in Internet, Intranet and Extranet environments
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting F5 OS version, 15.x, 17.x
- F5 Certified BIG-IP Administrator or VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer(Avi) for Operators
- Advanced Information Security technical skills and solid knowledge and understanding of information security practices and policies.
- ServiceNow, Jira and Confluence experience.
- Technical documentation experience.
- Strategic planning experience in translating leadership vision into executable strategies and initiatives.
- Technology experience in the Financial Services sector.
- Ability to coordinate completion of multiple tasks and meet aggressive time frames.
- Advanced critical thinking, problem solving and technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with and the ability to thrive in a complex and fast-paced technology and/or information security organization, within a large enterprise environment.
- Experience with Information Security Frameworks and standards (FFIEC, NIST, ISO).
- Ability to work off hours and occasional weekends to support change activities.
